Thou Shalt Be Flexible
Recently, our Student Minister, Michael Evans, led a group of students and adults on a mission trip to Chicago. They participated in a World Changers project. This past Sunday they shared their experience with our congregation. It always amazes me to hear how God works in unexpected ways in those situations.
When going on a mission trip it is always best to remember the 11th commandment: “thou shalt be flexible”. In this case, the city of Chicago didn’t come through with funds for materials. Obviously, it didn’t keep God from showing up. There were a number of salvations. I appreciate this group sharing their adventure in Chicago. If you have never been on a mission trip, I would encourage you to go on one. It will push you out of your comfort zone. Our students are also doing local missions every Monday. They would love for you to be involved.
During the weekend of August 14-15, our church will be participating in an area-wide marriage conference at First Baptist, North Spartanburg. Our enemy is a destroyer, and he especially loves to attack homes and churches. Marriages are failing at a alarming rate. God wants our marriages to thrive. This conference will be an excellent opportunity to have some fun and learn how to make your marriage better. It doesn’t matter if you have been married for two months or forty years, there is always something we can learn. We only have a few spots left. Rick and Katie Leonard are the point people for this event. Contact them for more information.
Summer is drawing to a close. School will start back soon. God has already done some great things! Let’s keep following His lead!
Yours for the Kingdom,
David
