The Call to Become Disciples
At the heart of the Christian faith is the call to become disciples. Jesus called people to follow Him. Then He told His followers to help other people to find their way into a relationship with Him.
Discipleship is a core value for the people of God. It is about growth and maturity in the Kingdom of God. Growing and maturing in our walk with Jesus is a process. It cannot be limited to a plan or a program. Yet we do need plans and programs to help facilitate the process of discipleship.
Here at Crossroads one of the programs we use to facilitate the process of growth in the kingdom is our Sunday evening discipleship classes. We offer these in the Fall and Spring. The Fall semester begins this Sunday, September 13. Jason Womick is our discipleship team leader. He serves on a volunteer basis and does a great job! Jason has put together an excellent lineup of classes for this upcoming semester.
If you have not signed up for one of these classes yet, let me encourage you to do so. There are a couple of significant benefits. One benefit is that you will be challenged to learn. When we stop learning, we stop maturing. I usually teach one of these classes, and I always enjoy it! Although I am the teacher, I find myself being challenged to learn as well. Another benefit is it provides an opportunity to get to know people. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is interaction between people. Even if you do not like to talk much in groups, you will be amazed at how much you find out about people just by listening. It is just a lot of fun! You don’t want to miss this so plan to be part of it!
I look forward to seeing you twice this Sunday!
Yours for the Kingdom,
David
