Jesus Christ, the CEO of the Universe

I am not a big fan of reality television, but recently Karen and I have become interested in a show called Undercover Boss. The premise is simple: heads of large corporations go undercover and work at entry level jobs in their companies. So far we have seen the CEO of 7-Eleven and the President and COO of Churchill Downs go undercover.

The amazing thing is how these executives start to connect with the people they work with. Not only do they make changes in the way they run their companies, these guys end up helping some of the people they meet during the experiment. At the end of the show, several people are called to the headquarters of the company. Of course, they are shocked to discover the man they had trained a few days earlier is actually the head of the corporation.

After I watched the most recent episode, it occurred to me that this principle applies to the Christian faith. Jesus Christ, the CEO of the Universe, went undercover when He came to planet Earth. Disguised as an ordinary carpenter, Jesus walked the dusty roads of Palestine. He encountered people where they were. Jesus showed deep compassion for the broken and hurting. He also confronted the religious bigots. His closest friends were not the religious elite. Rather Jesus chose to hang out with a group of misfits. His closest friends were several fishermen, a terrorist, and a rogue IRS agent. Their association with Jesus changed their lives. Most people never realized who Jesus really was. However, in the end Jesus blew His cover by dying for the sins of the world and rising from the dead.

In a couple of weeks, we will celebrate the Easter Event. As we prepare to do that, let’s keep in mind what the Master of all creation did for us. More than anything He wants to connect with us and change our lives forever!

Yours for the Kingdom,
David
